Hewwo! I'm TauDudeBlobber. I do not speak Chinese. I may or may not add to this/change this later.

Translation Plan

Note: If you contribute, DO NOT forget to add the template as explained.

There are currently not very many articals in English. But using Google Translate often results in wierd problems like translating 希頂語 as "Greek Language" and 希頂字母 as "Greek Alphabet" or something. This can make the use of Google Translate to view Shidinn Wiki pages difficult and/or confusing. But how can I contribute (to the translation of Shidinn Wiki pages) if I don't speak Chinese?

I propose a plan to translate Shdinn wiki articals into English using Google Translate, but add a template to them to mark them as such (because Google Translate can sometimes be inaccurate, and I don't want to spread false information), and manually edit all of the wierd/incorrect parts like calling Shidinn "Greek". From here, other editors can review them if they want and correct any incorrect information. If the artical is confirmed correct by someone who speaks Chinese, then maybe the template could be removed.

I also think that the main page (insert a link to it?) should be translated into English and Toki Pona, as they seem to be commonly-spoken languages thruout the Shdinn community. Doing so with Google Translate may be difficult due to all of the small pieces of text. Also, it seems that the independent Sanrio Wiki has a better solution in place for switiching between multible versions of the same page in different languages, so maybe this solution could be copied to this wiki as well.

Template

I don't know how to add a template to this wiki, so here is some wiki code to copy and paste. Maybe someone who knows how to add a template to this wiki should do so.

(insert template here)

Writing Shidinn in Other Scripts

I don't like the existing systems of writing Shidinn in other scripts. They aren't accurite to the source languages, instead trying to maximize usage of the common letters in the script. This is maybe fine for transliterating into the Latin Alphabet, which as been widely used in various diferent ways, having similar done to it in the past for orthographies used for natural languages, but absolutely will not do in scripts like Hangul, Kana, Devanagari, etc.

I think that the spelling systems should instead prioritize accuricy to the original language over avoiding uncommon characters. Compatibility with fonts should not be optimized for, as this is just a by-product of the digital representation of scripts, and should ideally have nothing to do with the actual script itself for this pourpace. Actually, you might just want to make new letters in the script for sounds completely foreign to it, if nessicarry. (Obviously don't take this far, but I think creating a new Hangul letter, for example, is way better than re-using the tense/doubled consonants for random sounds.)

I don't think I have reviewed all of the systems in existance, and I defintely don't know all writing systems, but what from what I've seen, they also tend to do other things like matching the Shidinn letter (put letter here) to letters for /l/ or similar and matching the Shidinn letter (put letter here) to letters for /n/ or similar. This isn't Volapuek encoding! Please just use letters for the sounds that they make instead of random other sounds for whatever reason you can think of or no reason at all.

I may make some script adaptations and put them here, but I hold myself to a higher standard than that of the existing orthographies that I am aware of.

The Shidinn Letters that I Use

I use the letters 0-45 (inclusive), for a total of 46 letters.
